Welcome

This year I went from web development as a hobby to completing the IT Career Switch coding traineeship. This included a wide ranging number of courses and assessments involving the following:

Work Experience and Skills

Within my professional life I have always prided myself on a keen attention to detail, timely delivery, excellent communication and problem solving.

Within the public sector:

  • I have been a caseworker across several departments. All stats were met and any sampled work was found to be correct
  • I ran my team's continual improvement program, implementing several suggestions e.g. communicating with other teams to address and reduce common problems
  • I liaised with software developers to ensure my team's particular requirements were met by a new case working system
  • I designed a spreadsheet for my team to track cases and stats. It also produced the daily overview for management which had previously proved difficult to calculate

As a legal assistant:

  • I drafted clear and concise correspondence for clients and solicitors, often to tight deadlines
  • I booked counsel, prepared their briefs and helped update them before court hearings

As a supervisor within a leisure facility:

  • I introduced new practices that ensured that the diner received an improved Food Standards Agency rating
  • Whenever the facility hosted children's parties I kept all staff members aware of how things were progressing so that the food and games could be successfully coordinated. This reduced waiting time and increased customer satisfaction

Projects

Both projects were constructed as mobile friendly, single page applications using HTML, CSS and javaScript along with the Bootstrap 5 framework. PHP was employed as the server side language responsible for data requests.

The first project also utilised an open source javaScript library to create an interactive map and numerous APIs to provide a wealth of images and data.

The second incorporated an SQL database to provide a record keeping solution for a "client". As in a more real life scenario, work could only begin on this project once a design proposal had been accepted.
